One Lovely Blog Award

The next award is One Lovely Blog Award! I want to thank Mike for this wonderful honor! Mike’s is not just another blogger, but a published author of the Sci/Fantasy young adult book titled “The Eye Dancers” . Mike’s stories are creative, fun and he has a really “Lovely” personality! The name of his blog is http://eyedancers.wordpress.com/
As a new writer, it is always humbling to be recognized by not just another writer, but a seasoned one as such. Thank you so much!!
The rules for One Lovely Blog Award are very straightforward: thank the blogger who nominated you and link the post to their page, and then state 7 random facts about yourself and nominate those you feel are deserving of the award.
Here are seven things about myself . . .
I am the Jan (middle child) Brady in my family.
I used to own a 70 Dodge Challenger RT with a dual 440 six pack under her hood. She ran and clocked the quarter mile at 13.4 @ 107 mph in 1989.
I love playing Sudoku, and other types of memory games for hours.
However the longest time I spent on a game was 26 hours, and it was PS2 Resident Evil; Nemesis from start to finish
I still have my Sega Genesis from 1992 and about 15 games and I do play from time to time.
I love to go to the beach with my big umbrella, blanket, shades and sleep to the sounds of the waves.
One of my favorite places I enjoy walking through, is Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, CA. The home has a lot of history and a secret tunnel that used to run from the basement to Sunset Blvd, during the prohibition period.
I love dogs of all kinds, but I really love “Pit Bulls”
And now it’s time to nominate some of my fellow bloggers for One Lovely Blog Award. I hope that everyone who reads this post will take a few minutes to view these sites. They’re fun, and ran by vibrant talented people with loads of passion for their art/craft.

2012 Blog of the year award
Even though this award is finally being accepted late, it still means a lot to me and the kind soul who gave it to me. It’s never too late to say thank you, if you say it with your heart, sincerity, and passion.
Thank you to http://dearkitty1.wordpress.com/ for not only your kindness, but for nominating my blog for this award. I am deeply touched by your friendship, passion, and now this.
Here are the rules
1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award
2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.
3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award – http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/ and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)
4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them.
5 You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience [I cannot join that group as I am not on Facebook].
6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…
Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!
Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!
When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!
There are a total of 6 stars to collect.
Which means that you can check out your favorite blogs, and even if they have already been given the award by someone else, then you can still give it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!
My nominee is only one blogger for one reason. He was one of my very first followers, both here on word press and my twitter page. All three nominations happened little over a month ago right when I had gotten ill, so my apologies for not following up on these.
I wanted to say thank you, and I will get to all three in this next week. I am finally getting back into the swing of things, but didn’t want another day to pass without acknowledging these nominations and the kind souls behind each of them.
Hope everyone is having a great day, and keep on blogging…..

2012 in review
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for my blog. I thought I’d share it with all of you, because without any of you I would not have such good numbers for being such a new “blogger”.
Here’s an excerpt:
The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner can carry about 250 passengers. This blog was viewed about 1,200 times in 2012. If it were a Dreamliner, it would take about 5 trips to carry that many people.
Click here to see the complete report.
So many thanks are to all of my faithful readers, fellow bloggers, friends and family.
Finally I need to give a special thanks to my two admins Linda F. and John E. who have really pushed to spread the word about my weblog over on my Facebook page.
Thank you both so very much! ~Clarissa

My Master Chef Audition
This past Saturday I went to Los Angeles to attend the open-casting call for season four of Master Chef. I arrived just before ten, not sure of what to expect as this was my second time going to one of these open casting calls. Once I approached the area where it looked like there were several hundred people, I asked a woman who was wearing dark clothes and a Master Chef T-shirt. She gave me a number after checking my name off a list. It was a really long wait as 60 people entered at a time.
Prior the casting staff had us line up somewhat according to our numbers, then next thing you know a man on a loud-speaker said Gordon Ramsey was going to pass each of us, shake our hands and ask us our names and what dish we brought with us. Once he was a person a head of me, he reached out grabbed my hand while he was speaking to the man in front of me. He must have had a hold of my hand a good 30 seconds, when he started to walk past me then turn look right at me and asked my name.
I replied; Clarissa from Huntington Beach, CA
Gordon then asked what dish did I bring?
I replied; Southern Stuffed Pie with Carmelized Pecans, and that he was going to love it.
Gordon then replied: Lovely, then he let go of my hand. As i turned away
Gordon then said: Nice eyebrows!
Meeting Gordon Ramsey was the highlight of the entire day. Once that segment of filming was over it was back to waiting, and there was a lot of it. About ten minutes or so before my group went inside a bleached blonde woman approached one of the casting staffers, she had no dish with her, just an armful of photographs which i am sure were of here. She was wearing a skin-tight suede outfit, and not to sound like I am stereotyping but it looked like she had breast implants, and her lips done in addition to spending way too much time in a tanning booth. Well this woman did not have a dish or application filled out, guess she thought she was the dish. I’ll get back to her later.
Once my group was inside we got escorted to a large room with a kitchen. We were then instructed to get everything ready for our dish but not to plate until we are told to. A moment later we are given three minutes to plate our dish, once we are done a person came around took a picture of our dish, and one of each of us holding our dish as well. Then another person came by and spoke to us individually about our cooking experience, if we went to school, who inspired us and so on. Then our dishes were tasted and more questions asked.
For me my personality doesn’t have to be dragged out or coached. But for other people around me, well let’s just say I could hear the casting staff coach others and offered suggestions about who they were. Some people are just naturally shy or reserved, but in this setting it must be more nerve-racking for them. I was one of seven people in our group who are picked to move to the next phase which was being interviewed. The seven of us were led into yet another room with even more people waiting their turn. It was in here that things turned and went from a high note to a low for me.
As I waited along with at least 20+ people, one can’t help but to hear what other people are talking about. A lot of hate expressed for past Master Chef contestants, as well as other celebrity chefs. It should of been pretty mind-boggling how in one room some can appear all sweet and nice, and full of energy. Yet in another room away from the eyes and ears of the casting staff, and camera men the true person comes out, but unfortunately some people do have two faces.
Well I was in this room about a good 90 minutes when I along with nine others are taken to yet another room. This time there were three producers, who had us line up and one by one asked us a series of questions.
And this is where I am going to end this. It is not in my nature to blast other people, unless I am blasted first. But in this room I realized that this is not for me at all. It is obvious that what the producers are looking for are people of different personalities, and if two clash its better for ratings. Its like when a building or house is on fire everyone shows up, same concept with a fight verbal or physical. As much as I wanted to make it on the show and win, I am not willing to compromise who I am as a person.
I still have pictures to download and of course share, and If I get the call and am asked to go in for an on camera interview I plan to respectfully decline. I have a lot of admiration for Gordon Ramsey as a person as he does give a lot back, and has put many through Culinary School, donated his time, and given a lot of money to charities My respect for him won’t change anytime soon. Just my respect for a program I once thought was on the level, is really all about ratings, and who is a fit or who will clash.
In closing I just want to say that I have no regrets at all.
