Food Fraud

Food Fraud………..???????

Good Morning,
Hope you are not all hungover from too many margaritas, or shots of Tequila or food. I’ll be back either later today or early morning with a new post on “Food Fraud” i have heard of this a few times, but i did not even think it was a wide spread as it a actually is.

i thought GMO’s were awful, this is straight up an outrage. But in my opinion food fraud is more under control, then the later.

So that is what i am working on, along with unpacking a four bedroom house(I moved over the weekend). I will be adding a new category in the next few weeks, on my favorite thing….. Spices, spicy, hot. Its all about the spice and how you use them.

So stay tuned

Till then ciao ~Clarissa

The Best Thing I Ever Ate

I thought since I haven’t been in the kitchen much, or been online from my computer to post more recipes, why not have some fun and get to know you all better.

On Food Network there is a program called ” The Best Thing I Ever Ate”, where various Food Network Celebrity Chefs talk about a favorite dish they ate, the name of establishment, where it is located, and describe in details the flavors, and why it is the best thing they ever ate.

I’d like to know from you all is…

“What Is The Best Thing You Ever Ate”

It could be a breakfast at a diner, steak house, taco stand, even street food. Or a dish a relative made.

It doesn’t have to be an Entree`, it could be a dessert, or a pastrami sandwich.

I think this would be a fun way for us all to get to know each other.

Feel free to describe in detail, post a picture, link to a recipe, and why you love this one dish.

For me personally I the best thing I ever ate was from Olive Garden

“Stuffed Chicken Marsala”
The chicken breast was not only moist and juicy, but stuffed with four different cheeses, sun dried tomato, crushed red pepper flakes, garlic.

What made this stuffing of cheeses hold together was the addition of bread crumbs and sour cream.

So when you slice into the chicken breast the cheeses didn’t slide out of the breast in one big gloppy mess. Each bite had the taste of four cheeses.

Now add the wonderful Marsala sauce with cremini mushrooms, red onion, more garlic and cream.

The bonus ahh it is served with garlic mashed potatoes that puts this dish over the top.

Each bite taken you get the juicy chicken, the melted four cheeses, the marsala sauce with mushrooms, and the comfort of garlic mashed potatoes.

I have loved this dish for the last seven years and have the actual recipe from Olive Garden’s website, that I’ll post later.

In the mean time, I’d love to know from you….

“What is the best thing you ever ate”

Ciao~from my beloved BlackBerry, Clarissa :)

How To Tell If You are Buying Genetically Modified Produce

I came across this image recently and wanted to share it here, and ask that everyone share this with everyone. On this image is a sticker we have all seen at one time or another on our produce. It is called PLUCode/Price Look Up Code for fresh fruits and vegetables sold in random-weight/bulk in produce departments. The code on the sticker is how we know if the product was grown conventionally, organically, or if it was genetically modified.

Right here in the US any Genetically Modified Food can be sold without proper labeling to the consumer. To me that is nothing more than fraud. If we buy a product to consume we have a right to know what is in it, bottom line and there is no excuse not to. In other countries GMF are labeled  consider yourself lucky.

I am attaching the image along with a link to the website for PLU Codes and for the IFPS (International Federation for Produce Standards)

PLU codes are assigned by the IFPS (International Federation for Produce Standards) after rigorous review at both the national and international levels. The only thing that can not be withheld in the US is produce.

IFPS is the International Federation for Produce Standards
