Now that we are in the full swing of spring, many will be planting there gardens of flowers, herbs, or their favorite vegetables.
I like to grow chilies and fresh herbs and last year tried my hand and failed miserably at growing tomatoes. Which brings me to the beautiful and exquisite Heirloom Tomato. There is over 600 varieties, some have been passed down from generations.
Depending on where you buy your produce it can be reasonably priced to a bit on the expensive side, but well worth it.
You want to find a plump and firm heirloom tomato. In your quest for this natural beauty try to avoid the specialty markets and seek out the local farmers market. This way you will buy the freshest, organically grown heirloom tomato with little to no pesticides used.
The heirloom not only adds vibrant color to a salad, but is genetically unique and quite delicious, especially the San Marzano variety. Just do not store in the refrigerator as they will loose flavor quickly.
So next time your craving a tomato take a trip to a local grower and treat yourself to one of natures delicious beauties…….
The heirloom tomato is ………
Pure Awesomeness……..
